A daily trading game: $100K of fake money, real stocks, ten times the drama. Hold a position for 24 hours and its move is multiplied by ten. A quarter of your gains goes to taxes, which hire lobbyists for a charity you pick. The lobbyists live in TrickleTown, on the back of your coin, and you run the town. Every quarter, the site's real ad money goes to the charities with the most lobbyists.
Talented people I know. Go look at their stuff.
Indie rock with big harmonies. They've played ACL and SXSW, and the band is named after a house on Duncan Lane. Cullen and Jack from the band are friends from when we got UberEats started in Austin, and I've partied at that house.
Tons of cool planty art, including a whole series of Plant Girl prints. She also makes stickers and teaches drawing classes. We worked on ads together at Eaze, we've faced off at Survivor at friends' birthdays, and her art decorates my daughter's nursery.
Sunny, danceable electronic pop that's played Outside Lands and Lollapalooza. My friend Evan Baker was in Slaptop in the early days, on songs like “With You” and “Panama.” He also did data science with me at Eaze, where we'd play Slaptop in the office and grind.
Loud, theatrical pop that pokes at masculinity. They've made songs with Charli XCX, Rebecca Black and Pussy Riot, and their first viral video was a love song to the economist Friedrich Hayek. Dorian and I were friends in high school. They took me to one of my first concerts, we'd stay out late causing mischief, and they've been making music videos as long as I've known them.
Queer feminist painter known for detailed, honest portraits of torsos, wrinkles, scars and stretch marks included. Her work has been shown at the Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery. She's my cousin, and some of my favorite art in my house is from her early days.
A member of the Hairy Who, the Chicago group at the heart of the Chicago Imagists, and the one who named it. Bright, cartoonish, flatly graphic paintings, now in the Art Institute of Chicago and the Whitney. He's my cousin, and we still love visiting his family in Chicago.
